Owen Vincent "Owney" Madden was born in England, raised in Hell's Kitchen, and became one of the most powerful figures in American organized crime. He ran the Cotton Club in Harlem, home to Duke Ellington, Cab Calloway, and Lena Horne. He managed boxing champions. He moved in a world where everyone knew his name.

In 1935, he traded New York for Hot Springs, Arkansas. He married a local woman, tended his garden, raised pigeons, and became, by all accounts, a beloved fixture of the community. He lived here until his death in 1965.

We named our lounge after him because he embodied something rare, the ability to walk into any room with presence, class, and confidence. That's the energy we bring to every night at Owney Madden's Social Lounge.
